Company Dancers
Samantha Anderson was raised in New Smyrna Beach. She graduated from Rollins College where she danced with Dr. Robert Sherry, Dr. Andrea Seidel of the Isadora Duncan Dance Ensemble, Carla Maxwell and Francisco Ruvalcaba of the Jose Limon Dance Company, and Silvia Waters and Derick Mintner of the Ailey II Company. Samantha teaches in the Volusia County Public Schools and also serves as the company liaison to the SCDT Board. (2006)
Amanda Aubry is from Cincinnati, Ohio. After training with Cincinnati Ballet, Amanda received her BFA in Dance Performance from Butler University. She has danced with Dance Peak Ballet Theatre in Colorado Springs, Ballet Theatre Midwest, and with Carnival Cruise Lines. In addition to performing with the company, she also teaches dance at Academy of Dance Arts in Deland and is the Director of Dance at Atlantic High School. (2008)
Brett DeBeaulieu is a Rhode Island native currently living in the Orlando area. Brett has trained in ballet, jazz, hip-hop, acrobatics, and aerial dance and performed most recently at Hong Kong Disney, with Central Florida Ballet, on AntiGravity's NYC tour and with SeaWorld San Diego’s Cirque de le Mer show. In addition to dancing with SCDT, Brett also guest dances with various companies and performs at Disney Orlando as an acrobat. (2007)
Jessica Lengyel received her BA in Dance from Point Park University with both an academic and dance scholarship. Prior to college, she received a BRAVO Dance Award and a High School Diploma with Arts Seal from Douglas Anderson School of the Arts and also studied with Nashville Ballet, Orlando Ballet, and the Joffrey Ballet. She has performed with Three10Movement, ASEID Dance Company, Conservatory Dance Company and Douglas Anderson Dance Theatre. Jessica is certified in Power Pilates. (Company Apprentice) (2011)
Kristin Wheat was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and now resides in Lake Mary. She is a graduate of the School for the Creative and Performing Arts and attended Northern Kentucky University's Department of Theater and Dance. Kristen danced with Cincinnati Ballet and Disney Orlando before joining the company. In addition to dancing with SCDT, Kristen also teaches dance locally. (2007)
Xavier Reillo was born in California and lives part-time in Orlando. He received his BFA in Dance from Florida State University after receiving an AA from Valencia Community College. He has interned with Streb at S.L.A.M. in Williamsburg, N.Y. and performed the works of Paul Taylor, Jose Limon and Alwin Nikolais. Xavier has danced with UTurn Dance in Orlando and recently choreographed and taught dance in Alaska and at Festival of Dance in Orlando. In addition to SCDT, he also performs with Fuzion Dance in Sarasota. (2008)
Kristen Sholes received her Master's Degree in Dance from Florida State University after first receiving her BFA in Dance from the University of Nevada - Las Vegas. She has danced with the FSU Dance Repertory Theater, College Dance Theater of Los Angeles, and Red Desert Dance Ensemble of Las Vegas. Kristin performed in the Human Show at the Kennedy Center and in Madrid and Barcelona with the American Choreographers Showcase. She also performed in Kiel Germany in the International Dance and Gymnastics Festival in 2004. Along with dancing in the company, Kristen teaches dance is a certified Pilates instructor. (2006)
Simeon Zebulun Newton is a native of Detroit, where he studied modern dance under direction of Mrs. Deborah West. Simeon was a member of the Male All City Dance Company, directed by Anthony (Tony) Smith, and the Mosaic Theater of Detroit, directed by Rick Sperling. Under the direction of Kevin Veiga, Simeon danced at Daytona State College, where he also studied applied voice. As an accomplished singer and actor, Simeon was one of the sole representatives of the US in the world festival of Theater held in Copenhagen Denmark in 1999. Simeon attended the very first SCDT audition and has been with the company ever since. (2006)
Amber Johnson was born in California and raised in Florida. She was classically trained by Grecia Fenton and Marat Daukayev of the Kirov Ballet, and at the Ballet Theater of Brevard and the Colorado Ballet. Amber received her BFA in Dance from Florida State University where she trained and performed the works of Suzanne Farrell, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Dan Wagoner, Lynda Davis, Sheila Humphreys, Susan Marshall, Lisa Wheeler, Anthony Morgan and many others. While at FSU, she was a company member with Dance Repertory Theater for two years. In 2006 Amber received a scholarship to live in NYC and intern with the Paul Taylor Dance Company. While dancing with SCDT, Amber has performed in original works by Jack Mitchell, John Beasant III, and Ann Sorvino, as well as many featured roles in works by the company’s two Artistic Directors. In addition to dancing with the company, she is the Director of Dance at Deland Middle School and teaches at two local dance academies. (2006)
Brittany Anastasio is from Kissimmee, FL and recently attained her BFA in Dance from Florida State University. While at FSU, Brittany was a member of the Dance Repertory Theater and performed extensively in works by Gerri Houlihan, Jawole Willa Jo Zollar, Lynda Davis, among others. Brittany attended the FSU in NYC program where she performed in the Dumbo Dance Festival and Dance Gallery Festival. She has also performed in the NewGrounds Festival in Tampa, FL and the Dance Gallery Festival in Houston, TX. Prior to college she gained her Certificate of Achievement at the Valencia Community College Summer Dance Institute and graduated from the Osceola County School for the Arts where she performed on the Royal Caribbean Cruise Line through the Stars at Sea Program and danced in several musical theater ensemble productions. In addition to dancing with SCDT, she also performs at Walt Disney World, Orlando and is a certified Mat Pilates instructor. (2011)
Ashley Sholtes Hearn graduated with a BFA in Dance from Florida State University, where she studied with renowned dancers and choreographers such as Suzanne Farrell, Dan Wagoner, Jawole Zollar, Lynda Davis, Terry Creach, Geri Houlihan, Susan Marshall, and Ben Levi. She also completed an internship at the Harkness Dance Center in New York City and a summer intensive at the Julliard School. In the fall of 2007, Ashley was an Artist in Residence with choreographer/dancer Sarah Skaggs at Atlantic Center for the Arts and her past performance credits include guest performances with CineDance of Orlando. Ashley recently spent time living in Nashville where she danced with Company Rose and StillPoint Dance Theatre and taught at Vanderbilt University's Dance Program and Ensworth School of Dance. As an original company member of SCDT, she recently returned to her home of Florida to rejoin Surfscape Contemporary Dance Theatre. (2006)
Jessica Mayhew was born and raised in Miami. She attended Santa Fe College in Gainesville before transferring to the University of Florida to pursue a B.A. degree in Criminology and Law. While attending SFCC, she was a member of the performing company, Dance Theatre of Santa Fe (DTSF), and appeared with Florida Dance Theatre of Lakeland. Upon graduation from UF, Jessica was asked to serve as an adjunct faculty member at Florida School of the Arts. She has had her work shown in Kazakhstan, at the Dumbo White Wave Festival and the Dance Gallery in NYC, at ACDFA, Florida Dance Festival, NewGrounds Festival, Ringling International Arts Festival and at various venues throughout Florida. Jessica is a recent M.F.A. graduate from Florida State University where she performed with Dance Repertory Theatre and in works by José Limón, Gerri Houlihan, Michael Foley, and Lynda Davis, among others. In addition to dancing with SCDT, Jessica is an adjunct faculty member in the Santa Fe College Dance program. (2011)
Simone Boos is a native of Indianapolis and a recent graduate of Alma College, where she earned degrees in both English and Dance. As a member of the Alma College Dance Company, she was featured in such pieces as Vespri Siciliana, Waiting for the Sun, Les Sylphides, and Paquita. Prior to attending Alma College, Simone trained with Evansville Dance Theater, Ballet Internationale, Nutmeg Ballet, North Carolina Dance Theatre, Virginia School of the Arts, Burklyn Ballet Theatre, Jordan College Academy of Dance, and Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. She was a participant in the Youth America Grand Prix Nationals and Gala performance in 2005, the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland in 2006, the American Telegu Association National Convention in 2008, and the recent cultural exchange performance Rendezvous with Tainan University of Technology in Taiwan. Simone has appeared in such professional productions as The Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Superhero, The Scarlet Letter, Romeo and Juliet at the Disco, and American Classics, and has had the opportunity to work with several professional companies including Ballet Internationale and Gregory Hancock Dance Theatre. In addition to working with SCDT, Simone runs an independent photography business and teaches dance. (Company Apprentice) (2012)
Zack Flores is a student in the Daytona State College Dance program where he dances with the DSC's performing dance company. He had the recent opportunity to guest perform in two pieces with SCDT, and has since joined the company as a trainee. (Company Trainee) (2012)
Crystal J. Draper is from Cincinnati, Ohio. She began her dance training at the Anneliese Von Ottengin School of Ballet (AVO), where she later became an Associate Instructor. Crystal attended high school at the School for Creative and Performing Arts (SCPA) as a Dance and Music Theater Major and was selected to participate in a junior college intensive study program at The Juilliard School in New York City. She later graduated from Shenandoah University and Conservatory in Winchester, Virginia, with a double major in Dance and Psychology. Crystal performed with Cincinnati Ballet before bringing her focus to dance education. In addition to dancing with SCDT, Crystal is the owner and director of Kinetic Expressions Dance Academy (KEDA).
